They were generally happier and earning more than those who finished university. The apprentices and trainees surveyed earned an average weekly wage of $1,421—nearly $200 more than postgraduates and $250 more than those with a Bachelor’s. Tradies were also happier with their pay, work and opportunities for training than those with Bachelor’s degrees.
PROTECTING YOURSELF FROM WORK’S UPS AND DOWNS
Apprenticeships and traineeships can set tradies up for success early in their career. But accidents, mistakes, and dumb luck could hit your wallet hard and wipe the smile from your face.
That’s where business insurance can help – it protects you financially if you ever face a claim. Public Liability is required for multiple tradie occupations. It protects you from property damage and injuries caused to others by your business activities.
Personal Accident & Illness insurance can also protect you as a sole trader when Workers’ Compensation is not on the table. You might also consider a Business Insurance Pack, which can be tailored to your tradie business to offer protection for tools, theft, business interruption and many more.
