The latest Carpentry Australia (CA) Roadshow featured plenty of info and fun for apprentices at Melbourne Polytechnic’s Heidelburg campus at the end of May.
These routine roadshows help chippies-to-be learn more about their future in the industry, as well as get a look at some sick new tools.
“Our purpose is to keep carpenters within the industry and make sure they get through their apprenticeship and become qualified,” CA Operations Supervisor Matt Spencer said.
“CA was started by a carpenter … it was started to help support carpenters when there wasn’t necessarily those supports around for them at the time.
“The students love them, we have a few of our sponsors who are massive brands for carpenters.”
Teams from Milwaukee, Paslode, Ramset, Wurth and DPV Construction were among those at the roadshow.
They provided plenty of awesome tools for apprentices to check out, such as Paslode’s PPN-Master nail gun.
CA Roadshows are typically every two or three months and get between 50-100 apprentices attending.
Matt said CA has hosted them in Victoria, NSW and Queensland but was open to more visits across the country in future.
“These are the next generation, they’re going to be the ones building our houses in the next 10-15 years,” he said.
“It’s super important to influence them in the right way early and make sure they’re using the right products, they’re doing the right thing and following the guidelines.”
Apprentices can join CA for free. You can learn more about joining here.
