North East Link workers in Melbourne will get hands-on virtual training as they ready themselves for the project.
The Victorian Tunnel Centre-based training will give workers simulated experience operating machinery and safety procedures underground.

Thousands of builders will be undertaking the North East Link Tunnel build soon as completion looms for the West Gate Tunnel.
The 6.5km worth of tunnels will extend from Buleen to Watsonia and are aimed at decreasing truck traffic on local roads.

The tunnel centre also includes life-size replicas of mined and bored tunnels. They also include a tunnel boring machine cutterhead.
More than 4,200 workers have already completed training for the North East Link.
It’s anticipated the combined metro projects will create 31,000 jobs locally.

The North East Link is scheduled to be complete by 2028.
