Blundstone continues to lead the way in safety footwear with its RotoFlex range. This world-leading biomechanical design is a result of years of research into the needs of workers in trades, building and construction industries.

The range includes two styles designed specifically to provide a genuine women’s fit – the wheat #8860 and stone #8863.
There’s no better boots to focus on having celebrated Women in Construction Week in March. Empowered Women in Trades (EWIT) reports females represent three per cent of the trade workforce. EWIT is one of many organisations working to support women to thrive in these industries and to encourage growth in representation.
Furthermore, the NSW Department of Education reports in its Women in Trades Strategy for 2021 to 2024 that women face several challenges when entering a trade. These barriers include cultural attitudes and perceptions about what roles are ‘suitable’ for women. The team at Blundstone is constantly researching, developing and designing to make sure finding appropriate women-specific safety footwear is not one of these challenges. The #8860 and #8863 from the RotoFlex range increase Blundstone’s women-specific offering to seven styles – including boots suitable for a range of heavy and light industries.
“Blundstone is proud to be offering two more styles to increase our women’s offering in the safety market,” Blundstone Australian Sales Manager Kylie White said.
“The #8860 and #8863 are specially designed to conform to a woman’s foot, providing all the latest protection and comfort features found across our extensive unisex work and safety range.”
Quality comfort
The RotoFlex #8860 and #8863 styles are an Australian-first in providing composite safety in heavy-industrial women’s safety footwear. Along with the Fortalite® compression-resistant composite toe cap, there are three key technical features that work together to deliver RotoFlex’s premium comfort and safety – the GripTek® Heavy Duty TPU outsole, AirCell footbed, and SoftCell® overarching comfort system.
Supporting the comfort technology, is Infinergy® E-TPU, a super-elastic energy foam from BASF that works to reduce impact and fatigue. Componentry aside, the key technical features that differentiate the women’s specific RotoFlex styles are the last the boots are moulded on and the AirCell footbed that has been shaped and constructed with a softer PU to provide optimal support for a woman’s build.
Research indicates women’s feet aren’t in fact smaller versions of men’s, but rather, a different shape entirely with distinct functional contrasts – and thus, the need to offer women’s specific support. Blundstone’s design team has considered several variables for their women’s specific styles – arch heights, range of motion and everything in between to ensure a better performing safety boot fit for hardworking women.
Blundstone believes women should be entitled to all the same benefits afforded to men in the construction and trade industries. In releasing the two RotoFlex women’s specific styles the brand demonstrates its commitment to the ever-growing female workforce.
