Empowered Women in Trades (EWIT) took home some silverware from the annual Telstra Business Awards earlier this week.
The association – committed to promoting female participation in trades – received the Accelerating Women in Victoria award. The award acknowledges the recipient and their efforts in growing opportunities for women in the workplace.
“I am overjoyed and humbled by our victory in the Telstra Awards,” EWIT Founder and CEO Hacia Atherton said.
“This recognition is not just for EWIT but for every woman and non-binary person who has dared to challenge the status quo in the skilled trades industry.
“Our mission of achieving 30 per cent female representation in trades by 2030 is bolstered by this honour, and it reaffirms our commitment to creating inclusive, empowering, and psychologically safe workplaces. Together, we are not just breaking barriers; we are rebuilding an industry where diversity is not just welcomed but celebrated.”
The award serves as acknowledgement of EWIT’s work in developing programs and initiatives empowering women seeking careers in the trades.
