IRWIN On Track

Mark Winterbottom’s IRWIN Racing 2019 Virgin Australia Supercars Championship livery has broken cover at the season launch in Mount Waverley.

Winterbottom, co-driver Steve Richards and team owner Charlie Schwerkolt uncovered the classic blue-and-yellow colour scheme for Team 18’s 2019 season.

“I love the livery! It’s great to see a good-looking car full of great sponsors that has a lot of credibility on it with national and global companies,” Winterbottom said. “To see IRWIN back in the sport and on the doors is really cool, and having some blue on the car is a nice transition for me. To be in a Holden for the first time kind of makes it feel a bit closer to home.”

Recently announced co-driver Steve Richards was also impressed. “The reveal is another exciting announcement and there is no doubt the IRWIN Racing livery won’t get mistaken on track, which is great for all of Charlie’s partners,” Richards said.

Team Owner Charlie Schwerkolt was ecstatic at the positive feedback from the sponsors.

“Our new livery is bold and bright. It really stands out,” said Schwerkolt. “The car is really clean and its striking appearance should standout exceptionally well on TV.

“There is nothing complicated about the car and I think it will be one of the sharpest cars in pit lane.”

All races of the 2019 Virgin Australia Supercars Championship will be televised live on Fox Sports.

Have you got the speed and skills to take on the Ultimate Tradie Challenge?

IRWIN has teamed up with Bunnings Warehouse to launch the Ultimate Tradie Challenge. The events will be held at Bunnings Warehouse stores and Supercar events in Australia and New Zealand throughout 2019, with the grand final winner walking away with an HSV Sportscat valued at over $70,000, IRWIN tools and more!

The aim of the game is to accurately complete a series of tasks using IRWIN tools in the fastest time. The competitor needs to:

  • Undo pipes using IRWIN GrooveLock pliers
  • Mark 3 lines using an IRWIN carpenter square and pencil
  • Locate and clamp the timber using an IRWIN heavy-duty QUICK-GRIP clamp
  • Cut the timber using the IRWIN 880 Plus hand saw
  • Drill 2 holes with the IRWIN SPEEDBOR MAX drill bit
  • Insert the timber into the jig.

Accuracy is key! If the timber does not fit into the jig, then the challenge is not complete.

Anyone over the age of 18 can compete.
