Bag O Rags supporting those in need

The Bag O Rags initiative was born because of unsold cloth and fabric, and eight years later, it’s still going strong.

Each year Vinnies shops across NSW process over half-a-million kilos of clothing and fabric. Bag O Rags recycles unsold items donated to Vinnies shops and converts them into 15kg bags of commercial-cleaning rags of various types. This maximises reuse and keeps these textiles out of landfill for as long as possible. The rags are suitable for many industrial sectors, including manufacturing, mining, hospitality and many more.

Bag O Rags can be conveniently delivered right to your doorstep, and Vinnies offers next-day delivery in most areas. Bag O Rags also offers pick up from any Vinnies Return and Earn Depot, including sites in Cardiff, Dubbo, Nepean, South Nowra, Unanderra and Wagga Wagga. Proceeds from Bag O Rags also go towards supporting Vinnies NSW’s programs and services. Some of the areas you can expect to make a difference in by supporting Bag O Rags include:

• Victims of domestic and family violence in NSW, including crisis accommodation, case management, and housing;

• Disaster-recovery assistance;

• Food assistance, provided through Vinnies’ soup vans where the need is greatest in capital cities and regional centres;

• Homelessness, including working with single men and women, women and children, two-parent families, men with children, and young men and women experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness; and

• Many more.

In addition, Vinnies NSW recycles unsold donations into new products through its re/CYCLE brand. re/CYCLE is an eco-friendly range of blankets, throws, rugs, and cushions made from recycled textiles and materials.
