Tough Test: Bosch 18V blower and trimmer/brushcutter

Bosch Blower

Bosch has brought its cordless 18V power to the landscaping space in the form of the 18V 2-in-1 Line Trimmer & Brushcutter as well as the GBL 18V-750 Professional Blower. Both had us amazed by the power and longevity they delivered.

BOTH OF THESE Bosch Professional products use the same 18V Li-ion batteries and chargers as other products in the line, so you can mix and match with your other Bosch Professional tools.

This is always a massive bonus, and had tradie Toby Spicer from Swell Building absolutely stoked to be testing the blower and brushcutter/line trimmer out for us.

“Anytime you can use the same battery chargers for all your tools is a plus,” he said.
“It obviously helps when the tools themselves are fantastic too, which is what we found with these.”

TEST #1: JUST A BIT OFF THE TOP

Toby got the 2-in-1 Line Trimmer & Brushcutter up and running quickly – making short work of some high grass on a property in Melbourne’s east.

“They never really fail when it comes to 18V tools, especially with everyone transitioning to battery powered tools,” he said between cuts. “Even with the power, I was able to easily control the trimmer due to its lightweight and great ergonomics.”

Toby was able to smoothly trim at his own pace thanks to the trimmer’s speed control and manual motor speed adjustment depending on how much work he needed to do. The laser-cut blade is 23mm in diameter, making this trimmer suitable for medium-to-large gardens.

“The Bosch Anti-Tangle feature also really is something I really loved about the trimmer,” Toby said.
“If I’m using this on thicker bush or grass, to know this thing isn’t gonna jam easy is awesome for peace of mind.”

The trimmer also comes with a plant protector, as well as a Bosch Pro-Tap spool with EasyWind should you only need the trimmer for some light garden work.

TEST #2: BLOWN TO BITS

Next up, Toby unleashed the blower on some unsuspecting leaves and trimmings. This Bosch blower sports an extremely powerful BITURBO BRUSHLESS motor with an axial fan which delivered an insane volumetric flow of 780 m³/h and an air speed of up to 198 km/h.

“I’m not a big pun guy, but I was literally blown away by the power this thing has. It was unreal,” Toby said.
“If I didn’t need it to go full boar, I could easily switch it up with the speed control if I needed it for longer, or just to run quieter.”

As well as all the advantages having a cordless tool brings, the ergonomics of the blower were also a massive plus, considering tradies can be using one of these for a while particularly on bigger properties.

FEELING FRESH

Toby gave both tools a good going over, but felt like he barely scratched the surface.

“That’s what you get with these Bosch 18V products every time: handheld power with longevity,” he said. “I could’ve easily done a few more gardens at this rate.”

Despite both delivering “unreal” power, Toby said it was important to note Bosch had done an awesome job in keeping that power in the hands of the user. His customer also couldn’t help but be amazed with the clean-cut work Toby did in such a short time.
