Tradies spending all day on the tools need two things for their feet: comfort and durability.
DEWALT has come through here in spades with its latest Akron PROComfort Work Boot, which delivers tonnes of awesome features in spades.

We’re no stranger to DEWALT’s PROComfort collection of boots, and the Akron boot comes through once again. We had our carpenter mate Reece Porter from Form Concreting try on these boots while he was working on an outdoor site in Mornington, which included a pool.
He ran it through tonnes of different environments, and thanks to all the bells and whistles have in this boot, it passed with flying colours.
Test #1: SORTED ANYWHERE
Working anywhere in Australia; tradies need to be prepped for all kinds of weather. Conducting any work around a pool – or any body of water – tradies want something that can handle a splash or two. The Akron PROComfort’s upper area is water-resistant premium full-grain nubuck leather.
The PU/Rubber out-sole also has a Slip Resistance C rating – this is the highest possible non-slip rating you can from the boots.
“Working around water or in the rain – you need boots that are not only gonna keep your toes dry, but aren’t gonna give up under you,” Reece added.
Not only are the Akron PROComforts good in the wet, they have a high heat resistance rating of 300C ensuring your toes aren’t roasting in the summer sun.
Reece – like many chippies – works with all kinds of heavy-duty equipment and materials.
As well as steel toe protection, the Akron PROComforts have an impact and abrasion-resistant top cap bumper which Reece loved as it meant a longer life for the boots.
Test #2: ALL-DAY comfort
The Akron PROComforts sport DEWALT’s fantastic PROComfort 3 Layer Build, which features various additions inside the boot that make it comfy as.
This includes a injection-moulded performance Polyurethane midsole and insole as well as top-of-the-line memory foam.
“I’ve got wider than normal feet, but these boots were super comfy and could breathe,” Reece said.
“I feel like I could wear these all day – even all night – and my feet would still be okay.”
Getting boots on and off is a small thing, but can be the difference between a boot tradies love, and a boot tradies don’t.
Reece said the Akron’s YKK medial zip made getting the boots on, and even easier taking
them off.
“I found the zips super convenient,” he said.
“I had no issue zipping them up. The straps also hold on well and the laces stay done up which has been an issue for me in the past. That all makes for a pretty secure boot.”
